Me, RTDE3 & our friend Dickie went down to N.C. to hunt with some good people.
Modern Miner was putting on a hunt for a group of his friends and I was happy he asked me to come!
I met some really nice folks down there & we had a lot of fun all day hunting & at night eating and telling stories.
Nana was the only one who could keep up with this Old Fart. Ha Ha! She showed those boys how to hunt.
Modern Miner did a real nice job with this hunt and I want to Thank him again for inviting me. I really enjoyed myself!
I found a few things I want to show you all. And I have something I need your help IDing.
The thing I need help with is this small lead relic that has a French looking emblem on it. It has 2 prongs on the back
that might stick in leather. Maybe a horse harness? It's bent a little on the sides as you can see. It was found at a spot where
Civil War relics have been found but I'm not sure it's from that era. Any Help?
I also found 2 old spoons. One has the Pat date of 1904 on the back & says "Wm Rogers #2".
I also found a few buttons, a small lock plate & half of a locket.
I also won a nice Silver Dollar that Modern Miner was giving away as prizes!
OH, and I did win one other prize for being an Old Fart. See the last picture! :D

Floyd, the Energizer Bunny has nothing on you or so I hear. Thanks for representing the "Silver Foxes" in grand style. You had some great finds and I wish we could have been there to meet you and the rest of the Margaritaville crowd. HH, Quindy.

LMAO!!!
Floyd,
When you put that make on I about pi$$ed myself. I hope that was just a compliment to the beans you ate. :laughing7:
It was a privilege to be able to detect with you, and I mean that. I could listen to you and your tales of detecting years gone by for days. :hello2:
I'm so glad the MD Triplets made it down for the hunt. I'll be up to see you soon, so lock your doors. :laughing9:

Folks,
Floyd was roaring to go as soon as he got here. The itch was so bad that he was eyeballing the hotel parking lot waiting for us to show up. Floyd's first recovery was a 1993D penny (only 7 minted :laughing7: ).
Once he hit the woods he was gone! He'd pop up once in a while like Big Foot, and then he was gone.

I hope that mystery piece can get ID'd. I would love to know what it is. :dontknow:

Thanks again for coming down guys. I'll need your help after deer season ends in Jan 2012 to help clean out more relics. :icon_thumleft: Swing by and pick up Nana too. You all know she hates to travel, and PLEASE don't forget to pick up her ketchup! :tongue3:

Sounds like all of you had a great time.

Hmmm, I've studied all of the pictures, but I can't find an "old fart" in any of them. Looks like a bunch of young whippersnappers to me. :laughing9: :laughing9: (Including the one that -Dug- posted.)

Good finds Floyd!!

HMM.... My invitation must have gotten lost in the mail :icon_scratch:

Well dammit. More donut pics. :D Yes, I like donuts and ketchup. But not ketchup on donuts. :tongue3:

You had me going full speed to keep up the entire time and I enjoyed every minute of it! :icon_pirat: It was a pleasure to meet and hunt with you and I truly enjoyed the tales from past hunts.....including the 'crock' story. :o What a crazy turn of events!
I hope you get an ID on the item. I'd love to know what it is too. Look forward to seeing you again. :hello:

Nana

Could be you just were not invited. You have a knack for throwing some ridiculous, unwanted and unnecessary comments on members posts here. Would it kill you to post something in relation to the finds?

With that being said, CONGRATS on the sweet finds Floyd! I can't wait to see what the piece with the fleur d'lis is. It was great hunting with you and thoroughly enjoyed the stories that we all shared. Looking forward to hunting with you guys again soon... :icon_thumright:

Hahahahaha! I heard all about the gas mask, but that's the first pic I saw! Hilarious! Man, I had a good time meet y'all. Whens the next one?

Great hunt, Floyd!
It was nice to see you down there.
Too bad I missed all the fun.

That sure was a lot of fun. I had a blast. It was good meeting you all and hope to do it again sometime. Thanks to MM and Diane for the hospitality. I know it was hard work setting everything up. First Class all the way.

Having read all your different accounts and seen all the pics I can only say you folks are most fortunate to be such good friends. Looks like a weekend to beat all weekends!!
Congrats on your nice finds and even more so on the camaraderie you enjoyed.

Looks like you can hunt circles around those kids. You also made some really nice finds.

I thought we were going to need to put a tracking device on him - once he hit the woods, like Doug mentioned, he was gone...lol

Any time Floyd. Next time drive that 64 Nova down so I can drive it. LOL
