Nate's finds from Tavern and Camp site w/Mirage,Danimal,Zoso
Hey guys, like Mirage said, the 4 of us headed out to an old site yesterday. It was an insane trek through the woods. It included me and Mirage running through streams that were too deep for our semiwaterproof boots, scaling STEEP ravines, dealing with snow and prickers, and a hefty walking distance. The ground was soft and diggable, though. The finds were tough but they reflected the age of the site.
My finds from the tavern site: a silver-plated buckle, a piece of an old crotal bell (a big one), and a very large axe head.
We had enough time to hit the old camp nearby for a bit before heading home. I found an area dense with targets and worked it real slow and dug any target that pinpointed small enough to be a coin. I couldn't believe some of the signals that turned out to be wheat pennies. One target was a 1949 nickel. It was only maybe 3 in. but for some reason it wasn't registering on pinpoint at all. I came up with 16 wheats, 9 of them being 1930 and earlier. I got one signal that was pretty deep and iffy that I dug...I never found the target but I found a marble in the hole.
My 16 wheats (one missing) from the camp site, including the marble:
Clad from the camp:
Old token from the camp. It reads, "P&W Bus Lines" and "Weirton, W.Va." and "Good for one zone ride."
Take care all, HH!
