Can anyone tell me anything about this basket? Any information would be helpful such as basket style, tribal affiliation, etc. Thanks!

Find what tribes were in your state and go from there. Little bit of history to go along. HH

I just acquired it so there's no telling where it originated. I'm in Missouri which was predominately Chickasaw, Illini, Ioway, Missouri, Osage, Otoe, Quapaw, Cherokee, Kickapoo, Sauk and Shawnee tribes.

I paid one dollar for this basket. I want to know as much as possible about it before I put it up for sale.

I can't help with specifics but it is not likely to be an old basket, it is fresh, clean, bright and has no visible wear anywhere. The old baskets I've come across soak up dust like a sponge, are darkened with age and exposure and have usage-related wear. It also appears a bit unrefined which makes me think it's a souvenir/tourist item. Hopefully I'm wrong, good luck!

I know it's not an antique but surely vintage at least. Just hoping it's not Nigerian.

Ah, well I could see it being ~50 years old, but what makes me think it's a tourist piece (among other factors) is the stark difference in appearance of the weave inside, which is more regular and appealing, and outside which is quite crude. I'm no expert but the earlier Indian baskets I've seen were more uniform inside and out and had a tighter and stronger weave. Can't go wrong for a dollar whatever the case.
