These discoveries are not new, just a recent interesting article. The Canyon Diablo meteorite, from which these 2 discoveries may derive, fell some 50,000 years ago, hence unlikely it was witnessed. It created Meteor Crater, in northern Az. But, 2 pueblos in the region collected specimens much later. And in general, natives collected meteorites, as evidenced by how many specimens of the Brenham, Kansas Pallisite meteorite have been found at Hopewell sites.

A description of the Camp Verde meteorite, one of the 2 meteorites found in a pueblo setting:

And the other, the Winona meteorite, discovered at the Elden Pueblo. I have a specimen of Winona in my collection, combines 2 hobbies in a way. Too tiny to photograph here...

Small individual from the Canyon Diablo(Meteor Crater) fall. The natives transported a single 135 pound mass of this fall to the Camp Verde location, where it was found in a burial cyst.
