Can't help you much, but I can offer that during my time in the Army, standard service rings like this were sold in the PX. Some would buy them after completion of basic training - either that, or they would run out and get a tattoo!

Nice find. It would be hard to identify without any info on it. Like Tommy G said, its apparently a generic type ring.
