Also the head of the spike looks like it has writing on it or it can be wear and tear from tumbling in the ocean.

Looks like an old copper square spike embedded in old ships worm wood.
Great find!!

That is a cool find whether or not if it is from a dock or a shipwreck it will display fantastically.Figure out a good way to preserve it so the wood doesn't break away from the spike.

They used brass and copper spikes around the powder room and armory on the old ships so no wayward sparks could set off the black powder.

Pentacryl is a great product for preserving organic artifacts found in water Wood,bone or whatever,
If treated while still wet the item will retain its original shape upon drying.
Nice brass or copper ships Spike they were used for many applications where corrosion WAs likely
