Headed up to NC this past week and had a chance to hit an old homestead that was on the property that I was staying at. Dated in the mid to late 1800's. All that is left is a stack stone fireplace and a stack stone wall along a stream with the spring head walled in as well. I hit it hard for about 3 days. 1 1/4 mile walk downhill in. Carried all the stuff uphill out. Found a bunch of farm type stuff. Horse shoes, axe heads, hoes, etc. Did find a mid 1800's watch fob that they id'd on the what is it forum for me today. My best find by far!!! (started in Mar.) Will have to find out how to clean it now. Anyway, I really enjoyed doing something different then parks and beaches. Thanks for looking.

Makes you think what life was like in that area,,,,how they lived and why they left. Nice finds.

Thanks guys, won't get back there till at least Oct. I 'll hit it again and try and find the missing piece to the watch fob at least.
