Found my first Merc. dime for the season, a couple days ago with the Tejon; a nice looking ‘44S.
Also found a broken key fob/token from the 1956 GM Motorama, along with a little modern coinage and a load of tabs and bottle caps I didn’t disc out.
The dime was a good 10” down in decaying pine needles, next to an old tree. I know there’s more up there but I’ll need to use the Tejon or Vaquero with the bigger coils to find it. I’ve gone through there quite a bit with my 5.75” coil Bandido and it’s really limited to about an 8” depth on dimes. Just put fresh alkalines in the Tejon - hope to head back up there this afternoon for more.

From memory, a 5.75” concentric was about 2” deeper with the Tejon than my Bandido (on a dime, air-testing). I’ve run the Tejon with a 4 pin 5.75” and it works well - just not as deep as with the 9x8. Bandido has the nicer disc range though (discs out a bottle cap completely while still hitting nickels well), and I much prefer it in the really trashy spots I do.
I could run either a 9x8 or 8” concentric on the Bandido too, but it still won’t be as deep as with the Tejon.

I enjoy using my Tejon for relic hunting, easy to operate and just plain fun!

This just goes to say to those that have stated.. I have the 5.75" on my Vaquero or Tejon and never take it off...well sometimes you do.

Any coil will go deeper on a Tejon because it's a 12 volt machine. That means it has a more saturated coil detection field and can get clearer signals at the edge of its range
