Nearly a bust!

As I stated last post we are now very short of any options. We went to visit a farmer & show him the lastest stuff we found & to check what set-a-side he had available. He had some but it was not rolled flat enough & was some land we had already checked off as a 'no'. On the way to his we saw a bit of stubble at one end of a field we had permission for. We tried it for 30 minutes & only got 2 buttons & no signs at all. Not all our fields are full of stuff...
We then did 15 minutes in a historial back garden of an Elizabethian farmhouse. Just heard tons of modern trash & got just 1 badge & modern 2p.
I gave up at this point, as I still had a killer hangover.
Dad wanted to tough it out & went to finish a small failed crop area. He did about 1 hour & saved the day:

Our off season is normally from mid-March - Sep, but this year we shorten it a bit. But we still have a way to go yet.

As we have a few examples of this one (in better nick with loop) & far less of the French type, that one for us wins the day.

I thought we don't have a single field left and when i was out with the dogs today i see one farmer had only planted 3/4 of a field with a roman homestead. And we had plenty rain this week... But it was 6pm yet and i didn't had the detector in the truck.

Yes a little thin for finds, at least compared to your "normal", still a long way from an actual skunking.
