Need a little help

I know it is a 12 gauge shot gun shell. On the bottom it says repeater should be brand right? But on the top it says 1901 not sure what 1901, is any ideas? I found it at the ballfield today along with a hand full of clad. I also found out today that the ballfield is where the old school ballfield was from 1911-1943. Really good news, the only problem is they brought in fill dirt for the new field, not sure how much. I am hunting with a White's Classic 2, am I able to get deep enought to get to the goodies or do I neen to up grade? And to what? Any help would be great thank you HH lohi

Depending on the depth of the fill, The Classic2 is good up to 8 inches. If you are familar enough with metal detecting, then I would upgrade. If you are still a beginner, then stay with what you got.
