it might but in trashy sites it will almost be useless. ( you are using a DFX right?) if so, maybe a tweak or two to your program, the DFX is a fine machine. we could argue about which is deeper an explorer or a dfx, but when all is said and done they are both very very good. one thing i really like about my minelab is the DD coil it uses. i dont know about better depth but i really think it gets better coverage than my garretts concentric coil. maybe a DD coil would help?

Generally speaking a larger coil gets you more depth but loses some sesativity to smaller objects. i would suggest instead that you up your gain and AC sensativity and try sweeping slower with filters set at 4 or 5.

I would say it is your settings! If you were just running the pre sets that would explain it! I even get 7.5 inches when using the small coil! 9.5 to 10 with stock....

Hello i was on the a__ end of an a__ kicking against two MD'ers with Minelabs. They were finding stuff at 7-8 inches while i was at 5.5. They found 10ish mercs and some indians and some wheats. Do you think a bigger coil will solve my depth issue???

Thanks

IMHO, for depth and stability (especially in mineralized soil), you want a DD coil. The ones White's makes for the MXT/DFX are great. I have the little 4x6 Shooter (great in trashy areas) and the big 10x14 Deepscan (deep and stable).

Watch for the 10x14 on eBay - I picked one up for $87.

Were you running two frequencies on your DFX at the time ? If so I would find a weak signal next time and before digging compare the twin frequency modes with the single modes and see what the result is.

I use a Sun Ray 12 and a 15 WOT on my EX-2's and have no problem pulling coins for 10-12+ from the dirt. On the beach they really shine. And yes, the Explorer will go deeper than the DFX. I have both

I assume you are talking about the DFX on land and not the Beach Hunter in the water agains't the Minelabs.

OK, everyone! thanks for all the suggestion, i wrote them down on a piece of paper and i intend to tinker around a while at the fair tommaro :)
