Need help, Ground Balancing, White's 6000/Di Series 2
Hi all
I recently purchased a White's 6000/Di Series 2 off of Ebay and am having some issues ground balancing.
I follow the instructions:
Turn to GEB Normal
Turn GEB to 5
Turn Volume to MAX
Turn DISC to 5
Turn power to VDI/Min
Raise coil, push button, adjust threshold until I hear a slight hum, release button, slowly lower coil
When my coil hits the ground, the tone ALWAYS increases. I raise the coil up again, press button to regain threshold, hold button, turn GEB down to 4, lower coil, same thing happens every time. The threshold increases. I do this until I turn the GEB to 0 and its the same - threshold increases.
It does this in GEB normal and GEB max is the same except the signal when it hits the ground it always broken up and loud.
I have done this in the middle of a soccer field and know there isnt' any metal in the ground. In order to detect, I turn everything to the presets above, hold the button in while I adjust the threshold to a slight hum, KEEP THE BUTTON PRESSED IN, lower to the ground, release button. This keep the threshold at a slight hum but I know Im not getting good depth because all of my targets are shallow (1-2 inches deep max)
Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong? I air test this detector in my apartment and get GREAT depth readings - usually 10 inches+ on a quarter. I live in Green Bay, WI and the soil here does have some small rocks in it. I have tried ground balancing my detector in different areas and its the same thing everytime. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Cas
