Need help identifying and dating a new ine.

Picked this beauty up at an estate sale. Can anyone help with dating it, and maybe what it was used for? Thanks.

Appears to be a British ale bottle, Likely to be from the Civil War period.

That does look alot like it, except for the bottom. The bottom on mine is concaved, not flat.

yours is pontiled. Looks to be iron pontil. nice age but fairly common. that chip hurts it a lot
