Need help identifying brass object

[Denton Clinton]

I found this object in a field in North Texas that has yielded a few wheaties, a silver dime, and some other items from the 1920's. It seems to be brass and is somewhat like a small pistol trigger guard. Can anybody come up with a more likely ID?
