Hello all. I would really appreciate any help identifying certain items found in the 1970's at Camp Baker/Fort Logan Montana. This was one of the earliest Forts in Montana and the cartridge case and fired bullets are 50-70 supporting the early presence (no 45-70 cases found). With this time period in mind, can anyone identify the thin metal crescent 'visor'? The thin metal is of patina (rust colored) to suggest steel composition.....it is thin straight edged on the inside of the crescent and has a thin rolled over outer edge (see pix). If it was not metal, I would have thought it to be a hat visor!!

The other item is either brass or copper (most likely brass) composition THIN flat metal an has a top scalloped edge with a bottom straight edge and holes on the bottom assumed for nailing or sewing it onto something. Is it for a hat decoration (sew on), firearm decoration (nail on), military unit designation, ????? See pix

Hopefully someone out there has seen either or both of these before from this period. Thanks in advance

The thin object is one of the brass "scale" pieces from an epaulette (also called "Shoulder-Scales"). See photos below.

I agree with Pippinwhitepaws that the other object you asked about seems to be the "pouring lip" from a tinplated sheet-iron bucket.
