🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Need help identifying old iron spike/tool? from shoreline.

Evening folks. Today I was detecting the shoreline while the tide was out of an inlet that had a lot of early colonial British inhabitants, and found this 4.5” tapered spike. To me it appears to be hand forged, and possibly relates to early ship usage? Please correct me if I am wrong, and any additional input is welcome. Thank you!

The possibility of it being from Colonial period is low due to it being iron.
Not saying it absolutely could not be... in the perfect situation where iron was "protected" from corrosion it could and has happened in very rare cases.
But this would be extremely rare and not likely.

If I had to guess, my guess would be the very deteriorated remains of a pintle pin and gudgeon.
