I can't identify it, but that is a really great find...If it was up for sale I would buy it....We don't have pieces like that in my part of Tx.

Very neat find. Can you tell if its stone or pottery? It is an effigy but can you tell if its human or animal? It looks like a cat to me but its hard to tell from a picture. If its a cat well it might be recent made for some hooch. If not it may be woodland and worth a bit.
Tell your nephew congratulations. I will be curious to what the experts say :sign13:
HH and thanks for sharin.

Oh yeah it might be a trade good also.

that is a great find.heres what i know about this pipe.first it is a human effigy(very rare)i have seen very similiar examples, almost carbon copies of this pipe.It is most likely fired clay, and may exhibit some remains of paint banding(cant tell from pic),most likely red ochre if so.this pipe was most likely made in the fort ancient culture, mississippian period(500 to 1000 years ago) or maybe protohistorical which is post mississippian period so it could be 300 to 1000 years old is my guess.an incredible find,as far as value, well thats all depends on how much someone wants to pay for it,but i wouldnt sell it for less than a grand.thx for sharing the pics

that is awesome :icon_thumright: thanks for the picture, wow awesome jamey

From the pictures it look like it has had a glaze on it and that would make it a modern historical Trade Pipe. I can't tell from the pictures, but does it look like it has a seam anywhere on it? Even if it doesn't have a seam, the glaze would mean it's fired clay from the past 200 to 300 years, and while old, probably of European or very early settler origin. Still a very nice find.

looks like one of the fancy mogador trade pipes, looks like the remnants of a seam down the stem on the third pic
