Dug this in my back yard here in Deer Park, Ohio which is a little suburb on the east side of Cincinnati. By the size of it, I thought it was a shotgun slug. Looking at a posted image of Civil War bullets side by side, I did not seem to find a match. Two grooves toward the bottom and then toward the very top there are two grooves very close together that are a bit hard to see.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Interestingly, in our front yard I dug an old UMC shotgun shell head, No 12 SMOKELESS manufactured from 1892 to 1902.
