looks like coal, my 150 picked out some the other day
 

I think what you have is a common "hot rock." See if it sticks to a magnet which you should have inside your scoop.
 

Thanks guys. Magnets don't stick. Wouldn't coal turn my hands black? This doesn't .
 

Looks like anthracite or hard coal that has been tumbled and rounded by years of waves and sand.

Been diving on North Atlantic wrecks for a long time and it is common around many wrecks as they used coal fired boilers. Many ships carrying it as cargo also sunk. Pretty common on the beaches as well.

That's my guess...
