I found this piece of iron or steel along the same cove on the Oregon coastline. Found it with a Equinox 800. Finding lots of metal there, large and small pieces, lots of old nails and spikes, possibly a few old clumped coins (it's a stretch), but this one has some markings that one of you may have seen before? It looks like a "UB" or possibly "U2" stamped on it, it's magnetic and about 5-6" in length. Initially, I thought about a horseshoe (the throwing kind), but who knows. Take a stab? Any assistance much appreciated! IMG_20210331_135926.webp

Possibly part of a horse shoe ?

Is there a history of iron works in your area?

I'm guessing "pig iron" ingot. Although I've never seen a curved one like that...

This one is 6 1/2 inches long:

I was thinking that but wouldn't there be holes?

If I had to guess, I’d say it IS a horse, mule or ox shoe. The way I understand it, a large part of the Oregon coast was the actual north/south highway before highway 101 was even thought about.

Right at the 3" mark on the tape it looks like a maker's mark.
I'm not sure if this would be a shoe for an animal.
More like a part of a ring that might be a stove part.
Is the other side look the same?

Pepperj, it looks basically the same with the exception of the plate/marking.
