Any opinions on the origin of this coin? It appears to be cut in half and was scrutinized under a loupe today. We looked at it both wet and dry and made a drawing of what we saw, (please see paper plate rendering). It has several flat edges, any help would be greatly appreciated!

My guess is some type of token. Are there any arcades by the beach?

Looks like an octagonal store token. They are usually aluminum.

There are hundreds of different ones. I like your paper plate drawing.

My guess is that it is/was a Club or Organization Badge or Token/Coin due to it having "Motto" on the one side. Can you tell what it is the composition of the specimen? Due to the condition, it appears to have been made with about the worst composition of metals that could be used together.

Thanks guys! Some of the engravings look to "messy" to be machine made and there appears to be some hammer marks. I found it in my Minelab bag in a zip lock with a bunch of metal beach debris. I found this years ago and probably assumed it was a corroded penny and never gave it a good look, I just opened that bag for the first time in years. It was found on a known treasure shipwreck beach in East Florida with no arcades in sight. I'm not saying that it is not a token, i'm just keeping an open mind for now. Any safe cleaning tips so I can see more of the object?

Thanks again!

Whatever it is PR, it sure is an interesting find. Good luck!

Also reminds me of the top of the old GM keys from the 60's
