It feels and sounds and looks like glass.
It is nearly transparent when I hold it up to the light.
I am really curious about this thing

The material is Obsidian,
A natural type of volcanic glass.
Classic material.
there were nomadic type traders who would carry quantities of it with them as trade goods.

I may have bad news for you. I've seen many points like the one pictured. They are usually for sale in gift shops as modern reproductions. They generally have a flat back. I certainly can't state this for sure about your point, it's just my opinion.

Like this? Note: Of over 21,000 points recovered from a local Indian Burial Mound only 1 small obsidian point was found. Obsidian is not native to NC so it was probably made from material provided by a travelling salesman/trader..
