Need Help On Cleaning Artifacts

Does anyone have any ideas on cleaning heavily crusted artifacts from possible 1715 fleet? Found object approx.4 in long 2 in across and reads silver on meter .Theirs a small spot on object that you can tell theirs something inside,but have now idea on how to remove build up.Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks...

A picture would be great. If it is silver, you should be able to use reverse electrolosis to bring it back to life. I will yield to some of the experts here on the forum to answer the specifics. You should also be able to find a wealth of info on cleaning and restoration by doing a search on the forum.

See if you can't get us a picture of the object. We always like to see whats been found lately!
