If you would be good enough to take a pic of the complete backside of the frame, this would at least help with dating it.
Also, look closely for a signature, initialism or cypher hidden in the artwork.

The label on the back says, "This picture is Edwards - Mother".

It's definitely the same subject, but mine is on canvas. Those are on boards. They aslo look like they were done by different people.

Being they are on canvas. They could be originals. Don’t give up on the research.

I wasn't able to find anything to corroborate this information, but this one site claims the following:

Title: Two Young Boys Drinking With A Dog

Artist: Christian Friedrich Gonne

Christian Friedrich Gonne.jpg

Christian Friedrich Gonne (1813-1906)

"Christian Friedrich Gonne was a very well known 19th-century German painter of historical, genre subjects and portraits.. Born in Dresden in 1813, he was at first a physician, but at the age of 21 began studying at the Dresden Academy; he then became a teacher in Posen (now Poznań, Poland) and completed his studies on trips to Rome and Antwerp. From the late 1840's, the artist permanently lived in Dresden. From 1857 until 1890 he was a Professor of Dresden Academy. His works are represented in the greatest German museums."
