need help with bird relic

Dug this at an old early 1800' s site. Any ideas what it is.

A whistle. Oddly there was a recent discussion about these, and someone had posted possibly the very same model.

Hey! Thank you so much. The whistle idea never crossed my mind. Looks like it's missing the whistle part. There's one or two I found on ebay. You know your relics

Some of the old bird whistles were meant to have a little water in the bottom. This would give it a warbling sound. Tony

Is defiantly a whistle. Completely identical to others found on goggle. And ebay.

Absolutely no need.

I have the exact same one complete, another missing the whistle (Like this one) and several fragments.

I also filled it up with some water and made the "warbling" sound and it is remarkable how bird-like it sounds.

Victorian era. Nice find!
