Welcome to Treasure Net !
What did your friend tell you about the history of the gun?
Did he find it or buy it?
What is its total length?
Don.......

Super cool.

What you have here is a bronze swivel gun / cannon...
The carriage was made for this but does not go with it IMO...

When I have a few I will post more.

Markings are WAY cool...

Your cannon / gun is similar to this style...

I have looked at those markings / mark three times... in depth...
For an extended amount of time each time... to the point my eyes and my neck are twisted...
Was about to save and crop the photo...
then you posted that fab crop and rotated one...
I thought...
"better view / pic... which at first glance was great and I would finally figure it out...
But still no luck...
no thought...
its bizarre to say the least...

I saw a mark similar once... in the fact that it made no sense... rhyme or reason.
It too was and is still a mystery...
Although...
I once read an opinion in an article on it...
Which I did not agree with for it was absurd sounding in theory.

Anyway...
This is a very... very... cool item.

to me it looks like....

S @ J 6 K
and the K looks a little messed up if it is a K

how long has the @ symbol been around
maybe there are markings on the trunnions, or maybe bottom of the barrel

Believe it or not the symbol is old...
1500's...
Called the “snail” by Italians and the “monkey tail” by the Dutch.
