Need Help With Fisher F4

I've been out of metal detecting for a few years. Just purchased a Fisher F4. I need some advice. In what modes does the detector need ground balanced? Sometimes I just turn it on and start swingin. Sometimes I use the discriminate mode and eliminate the trash but use the notch to accept nickels. I never touch the sensitivity or threshold knobs. Should I be ground balancing in these two modes?? I believe the manual that came with the detector is lacking a lot of specific info. Would be nice to have a video about using this detector. I guess my main question is about the ground balancing. What are the best modes to use and if anyone has any settings for this machine they couls pass along, it would be greatly appreciated.

the gb only works in all metal on the f4

So I only need to ground balance the machine when in "all metal" mode ??
