Need Help with ID of relic found at CW camp

I found a relic this past weekend in a field, during the CW it was a site that had several Union camps as well as some revolutionary war activity. I could use some help to ID what this is. It's roughly the size of a quarter. It's shape is octogon, it has a beaded trim around the sides, a number "25" stamped into it and it appears to be some sort of design along the top portion and some letters near the crack, unfortunately not able to read due to damage but can make out a letter or two. The back is blank. Any help would be appreciated...

I believe I have a pic and description of this at home. I will post as soon as I get there. I have seen a pic of this exact relic in some of my literature.

It looks very similar to a "pickers token" , or "pickers check".
