Found this deep in woods a few feet from 1865 IH. Penny and a Pin fired shotgun shell from around same time.

Not Iron, has some green patina.

Just curious. It had a couple of us stumped.

Just curious – which part of the lock is it? I don't see anything that matches in the photo.

The pic I posted is just an example. There are 100's (maybe 1,000's) of various makers and styles of these type of locks. Finding your exact part would be the proverbial needle in the haystack. But I'm confident that's what it is. Parts like yours are not an uncommon find.
