Hello!
A month ago I posted a poor photo of this rusty relic I found metal detecting a 19th century farm.
Some suggestions were a stove lid lifter or a part of a wagon.
I did research and nothing really matched. It was suggested I clean it and post again.
Here it is. I believe it is either cold forged or cast iron.
Does anyone know what this is?

Could it be a broken piece of a cast iron sewing machine base?

By golly I believe you nailed it. I have seen a few of those up close and personal in past years of my life but that didn't occur to me now. Good i.d.
