Which way was the neck pointing when he found it? It may have been put there by a Jesuit priest and may have been pointing to a cave of treasure:laughing9: ......sorry Bob but I just had to.

Seriously though, it was used to treat diseases of the throat and lungs and air passages from after the turn of the century.....Vinol

Vino is wine, in Italian. I have some bottle books, if you don't get an educated answer, I'd be happy to look it up for you.

see how many seams it has...and if you can feel the seam inside the bottle, at the neck. That will tell the age or close to, anyway...along with a pontil mark on the bottom[if it was blown in a mold]. need a side view & neck [top] side view if possible.

It was found by my brother in St. Augustine. He does excavation work. I will check on that astralea. Thanks villagenut, I thought it was funny. I couldn't find anything on it. It's Not my thing as you know.

This is not a Vino wine bottle....it is a Vinol medicine bottle from the turn of the century....1900ish machine made. I think that anyone who says it's not my thing would change their mind if they got into a good old pit full of blown bottles, you should try it:icon_thumright:

My brother does collect them. He has really nice ones from the rebuilding of old Jacksonville. I've never found a complete bottle. All broken so far.
That good help guys. Thanks
