I was out of town last weekend and visited with an old friend. I had taken him to hunt at one of my sites several years ago, and he had recovered 4 decorative brass straps that were about 10" long and about 1.5" wide. These were dug from in front of a c1800 home although there was a small late 1600s site in the vicinity. He pulled these out while I was visiting, and we both realized we never were able to get a positive ID. I forgot to take any pics of the back, but all 4 pieces had what appeared to be a rusty spot where some kind of attachment used to be. The area around the protruding square knob seems to show some kind of wear, and I'm wondering if it was attached to leather at that point. We figured it might have come off an old trunk, or was maybe from an old carriage or buggy. Was hoping someone might be able to ID these, and maybe offer a suggestion as to their age. Thanks for any help.
