Found this thick brass item in 2 pieces. Area full of 1830's era targets. House on land dates to 1729.
There is a gradual bend to the main piece, and I suspect that the broken tail curved down as well, possibly more severely than the main part. Within the circle is a hinge attachment, though the "chape" was probably iron and missing. No markings or decoration or mounting holes. Seems to have been hand-worked. Have looked at buckles, latches and vessel tops, but can't seem to come up with anything that fits. Any ideas would be appreciated. Best, Dan
