Need ID

[Ray in CA]

I posted this in today's finds, but thought I would post here for identification. I don't know anything about buttons, but a quick internet search led me to believe this is some sort of navy eagle button. How old I have no clue. It was found in Pasadena in the city easement in front of a house that goes back to the very early 1900s. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No markings. It's pretty corroded on the backside.

I'd say a common civilian blazer button. Military buttons didn't have that wide of a rim.
