So I've had these rocks and minerals for a while, and have never found the time to really get them identified, but now I do, so here I am.

Mystery Rock #1: Appears to be a chunk of quartz, but I'm not totally sure.

Mystery Rock #2: Very very sparkly, with a not so sparkly white lump on top.

And finally (for now) mystery rock #3: My friends said it might be a geode but I'm not sure.

A little more info!

Rock 1 is 2.75 in by 3 in by 3.5 in, and weighs 1 lbs, 12 oz.

Rock 2 is 3 in by 2.5 in by 2.75 in, and weighs 7.65 oz.

Rock 3 is 4.75 in by 3.5 in by 4.75 in and weighs 2lbs, 10oz, which confirms its not a geode.

Rock 1 is milky quartz - "Milk quartz or milky quartz is the most common variety of crystalline quartz. The white color is caused by minute fluid inclusions of gas, liquid, or both, trapped during crystal formation."

My guess for rock 2 is a kind of sandstone (greywacke maybe) as to nearly all sandstone on Earth being composed of 95% of silica or quartz. Gives it that sparkly look sometimes. That white bump is made entirely of quartz.

Rock 3 imo is a kind of Rhyolite, another silicate mineral.

Hope this helps:icon_thumright:
