i was wondering if abyone knows where i can get a probe for locating hut sites

I don't know what a hut site is---possibly what is sometimes called a privy or out-house?

On the probe, are you referring to one of those long metal rods with a T-handle on top?

Probably the cheapest way to go is use a T hex wrench like this one:

One with a ball end would be best to avoid putting a scratch in a target.

I got a nice steel shaft out of a straight-shaft gas weedeater. It's about 5/16 inch in diameter and about 4 feet long. All I'd have to do to make an excellent probe is to get a 1 foot long section of 3/4 inch water pipe for the handle. Drill a hole in one side of the water pipe at the center point that is just large enough to insert the end of the shaft. Weld the two together then use a grinder to sharpen the other end.

Oh yeah. That steel shaft was INSIDE of the weedeater shaft. Unbolt the head section and pull out that solid shaft. I found mine in the local landfill.

I don't have any experience with them, but I have seen a picture of a guy using one, on this forum somewhere awhile back.

The rod was several feet long.

yeah im looking for something about 4' foot long. i might try the gas weedeater idea i can get some pipe at work and weld it up thanks for all the help
