Need tips, ideas, etc. For hunting for a cache here in El Salvador.

I'm going to a really old hacienda from my family that dates back to colonial periods (1500's and up) to search for a cache hidden for a looong loong time (they suppose the cache consist of spanish cobs), so I wanted to ask you where could I find any tips on cache hunting on the internet? Or better yet, if you know any tips feel free to post them, thought or ideas, Thanks!

BTW I'm going to hunt with a Classic IDX with a stock coil (9 1/2), is this fine? I wanted to buy the 15" but I need it ny January and cheap since I'm not going to use it every time I hunt but once in a while, anyone know where I could find one cheap? Thanx again!
