Nice work Bob. You are motivating me to get out my tripod and try some night photography. Was your shot a single or multiple exposures? I am curious how much total exposure time is needed for a trail similar to your results.
man do i love your night pics!!!!! awesome work! notworthy headbang

Thanks Dan!
Great shot Bob icon_thumleft, thanks for posting it. What were your settings etc.
Ian
Thanks Ian!
My settings were Manual mode, manual focus......a lower F/stop number, around 4 will work! Tripod for sure! I had my ISO on 800 last night with a moonless night.......usually set it on around 200......I did multiple shots (33 of them) at 30 second exposures with 4 seconds in between each shot! Finally, I put them into a program that I downloaded for free called Startrails.....Here is a link to the site http://www.startrails.de/html/software.html . Not sure if you are allowed to do that on here or not! Oh well! My camera doesn't support the use of a timer so I downloaded another program that allows me to tether my Nikon to a laptop and then I can take pictures through the laptop remotely. The limiting part of this is that it stops after about 30 images......It will only go to 100 images total and the longest exposure times can only be 30 seconds each.......I think tonight I will try spacing out my time in between shots to give myself an overall longer exposure............Thanks for lookin and look forward to seeing some interesting images!!!! Oh Dan, almost forgot, I would say the total overall exposure time was somewhere around 20 minutes!
