Detector(s) used
Minelab SD2200v2/GP4500
This new Coiltek Battery system is taking detectorist by storm. This new system is less than 15 ounces making it the lightest Minelab SD/GP/GPX battery system on the market. The unit can mounted to the side of any Minelab metal detector with the use of the short power cord (sold separately). The SD/GP series unit has a three position regulator toggle switch that allows you to choose between two operating voltages (6.7 or 7.3 volts). You can now run your Minelab SD at a higher operating voltage that allows you to get better stability, better sensitivity to smaller gold and more depth. Since the GP series have a built in regulator, it's best to run this system at 6.7 volts, but running the 7.3 volts will not harm the metal detector. On my minelab I get 7hrs out of one battery. I picked it up from www.nuggethunting.com

What is that, a lithium camcorder battery pack on there? Does it detach? Recharging times??

I don't think this is made for the Explorer, E-Trac or Safari but I could see some advantage there if it was lithium. An overnight charge pretty much gets an all day hunt for the E-Trac though with just NiMH batteries. Reducing the weight would be nice... It could be about half the weight of the NiMH pack with lithium I suppose... just a guess.

Yes it is the same as a camcorder battery and yes it is detachable. It takes about 5 hr to recharge. Give Rob Allison a call and see if they make them for other minelabs. This is his web site www.nuggethunting.com he is a great guy and he will tell you if they make one. He is a minelb dealer.
