Hi everyone,

My name is Ryan and I make videos on YouTube. Recently, I have become very interested in this coin roll hunting hobby and I decided to make a video about my first time coin roll hunting. I would love it if you guys would check out my video! Since it's my very first time doing this, I would love it if you all could leave some tips in the comments section. If you like the video and you have a YouTube channel, go ahead and like the video and subscribe if you want to (: I'm hoping to make more coin roll hunting videos in the future; it's so much fun!

Here's the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnSvmbVuo9Y

Thank you all!

I've been a coin collector nearly my whole life (note im 17 years old). Finding out about coin roll hunting about 3 years ago while seeing it on youtube. Not all coin collectors know about coin roll hunting. I find it silly how everyone is up in arms about exposing coin roll hunting. Eventually silver will run out, but other coins will become valuable in the future for coin hunters to find. Not only youtube videos expose the hoppy but for example many parents show the hoppy to their children as I have seen in many forums. Any how, hope everyone can understand that one youtube video will not end your crh careers. "The internet is not meant for secrets". HH and have a great day. Zach

Wrong young man. Silver will only run out when people stop putting it back into circulation or the government does away with coins all together. This hobby has been going for decades and there is still silver to be found.
There are other coins out there already to be found. Error and variety coins are prominent and I find them often. New ones are also continuing to be produced each year. Silver's great, but why sell a coin for a dollar when I can get $600 for it!

I just came in here for the drama and was not disappointed!

I agree though, posting videos on Youtube is not recommended.

I bet if you got enough of a YouTube following and did some videos of a few fantastic finds, you can make better money off of YouTube's ads then you could actually coin roll hunting. And why not? Sometimes you have to think outside the box. Having a female co-star definitely helps the cause, as your average coin roll hunters have been looking at likenesses of old men on little metal discs for hours on end.
This community isn't hidden at all. It shows up in most Google searches on page one. I get not wanting to inform the world, but everything you could possibly want to know about coins is already online. They only get to it by typing it in, and they only type it in if they already had an outside force steering them in that direction.

Just wow.

A newer person (much like myself) to the world of coin roll hunting comes here excited about making videos about the hobby for people to view on YouTube and many here feel the need to pee in his Cheerios? That's just sad and pathetic. People should not be discouraged from sharing their passions. If he wants to celebrate his hobby of roll hunting, then so be it. I like to tell people about my metal detecting. I love it when people learn something new and can appreciate what I have to say to them.

Unlike many here, I don't have thousands upon thousands of dollars to blow all the time to roll hunt. I do what I can, a box here and there. I mainly hunt pennies and nickels, not to get rich as much as finding collectible coins in circulation. You see, I came to roll hunting from collecting coins. I like seeing all the different dates and trying to fill cheap albums. I do it for sheer enjoyment. That is all. This is what he seems to be doing as well. Since when did an enjoyable activity turn into some business that no one should ever know about?

Roll hunting has been known in the coin collecting circles for ages, so it's not exactly a big secret. So what if he posts a few roll hunting videos on YouTube? Again, it's not a big secret, and we're not the magical community versus the Muggles here. People know we roll hunt. Tellers know. Banks know. Knowing that there are quite a few roll hunting videos on YouTube, what's the big deal? Maybe he'll inspire others to roll hunt. Maybe it'll be a kid who decides to pick it up to fill out a collection or find a piece of silver. Is that so bad, or are you so selfish that you can't fathom the idea that someone else might get that piece of silver?

Now...for those who have supported him, thank you. You have been the voice of reason here. It's nice to see people who are welcoming and helpful.

As for you, rryanq, keep up what you're doing. I enjoyed your video and would love to see more! :)

Hello again,

I probably won't be posting every coin roll hunting video I do here. I know that you all have different opinions on whether or not I should even post them at all.

But this one is special. Not only did I find my first silver, but I found it in a way that I think you'll all find very peculiar. Needless to say, I was very excited.

Here is the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ji_MQT3BB8

I have a nickel hunting video coming up where I had a far-above-average $20 of nickels so I hope you'll stick around for that. If not, I might see you on some of the other threads. Happy hunting everyone!

Why would you resurrect this thread by posting another video?? Oy...

It seems like there was a "white" rim in the cup (at 1:33) that you didn't elaborate on in the video. Not silver? Maybe plated?

I didn't notice that! I'm guessing that that's the 1967 silver half right there on the top. Since it was my first silver, I didn't know exactly what I was supposed to be looking for so I guess I didn't even see it until I pulled it out!

Tip of the day: KEEP IT OFF U-TUBE, so as not to advertise to the rest of the world what you and all of us CRH's are doing. Just remember, it someone watches U-tube and starts hunting, they may just be taking away what you could have found. Less for you, more for them. KEEP A LOW PROFILE if at all possible, and don't tell your name, phone #, or address. Other than that, welcome to the hobby, and HH(happy hunting).

This comment just sounds like greed to me. I don't see any difference in putting up a CRH video from putting up a metal detecting video. The same scenario can be had "if someone watches U-tube and starts hunting, they may just be taking away what you could have found." Maybe us metal detectorists are just a little better at sharing.

That one in the cup was pulled out after and in a different pile then the 40% it deffinently looked like a 90% edge to me.

Oh wait I see what you mean...well I didn't find any other silvers in the lot so I'm guessing that's just weird lighting.

I don't buy that it was lighting. It might have been a clad that was plated. Those are very common.
Have you already dumped the searched halves?

Trust me man, if there was anything that even closely resembled a silver coin, I would have known about it. I checked each coin individually after filming the video and I didn't see anything like that. Sure wish I would have though :D

Please "share" with us your favorite dirt fishin spot so we can all show up there and tear it up tomorrow then :tongue3:. HH, Maverick.

Never said you were, I'm replying to showtimes quote. HH, Maverick.

Northern Michigan, right?

Wrong actually! And what does it matter what shows up on my treasurenet? We're talking about YouTube here.

I'm in New York and your more then welcome to tag along to hunt with me. Buuuuttt I think you missed the point here. The comment is not wanting anyone else to CRH period regardless of if its in the same bank or a completely different state.

I love reading threads in this forum about how everyone on this forum would give back an envelope full of money found at a bank, but a kid making a innocent little CRH video is the worst thing ever. Anyone who hates the idea of CRH videos and articles better not search on google or youtube. They might have a heart attack. There are thousands of articles and videos out there already. Instead of yelling at the kid lets give him good information that he can use in his videos to inform any new CRH the do's and dont's of CRH. Lets be honest with ourselves, this hobby is not for everyone. Not everyone has the patience that most of us have to go through boxes of skunks and only get one or two silver coins. It takes a certain type of person to really get into CRH.
