Today’s find at one of my favorite Coinstar locations here in White Plains, New York, put me over $100.00 found for 2016! :headbang:

Today’s haul was $2.74, with no silver or foreign coinage, giving me a total of $101.27 in found spendable; 1- Silver Ben Franklin Half; 5- Silver Quarters; 3- Silver Mercury Dimes; 4- Silver Rosie Dimes; and a buttload of foreign coinage so far this year.:skullflag:

This is definitely my best year ever for Coinstar finds, and it hasn’t hurt that my Gal has made another $15.00 or so in her own finds! It still amazes me when I reach in and find a lot of change. I just can’t understand how folks just leave it there! :icon_scratch:

I love it, but it does leave me wondering. :coffee2:

Good going. There is still some year to go yet. People just don't value anything anymore, not even money. I haven't made any coin star finds, but my after work route walking my dog (2 am) takes me past dairy queen, to the all night convenience store, then back on the small town small business street. Just over $80.00. Keep scoring.

Super - I check them when I see them

Excellent totals Terry. You still have 4 1/2 months to add to those totals. How you going to do better next year? lol

Congrats! still looking for my first score

It all adds up. Nice

Our Coinstar machines are always empty. They are so empty that I dont think anyone uses them, because they have been taken out of a few stores.

Hello Terry,

Kids, young adults and "grown ups" do not have the appreciation for money (change). In class, one of my college students began throwing clad coins in the trash. I said "what are you doing", he said " come on Doc nobody carries change any more", well I said, I do"! I told him to get a jar and fill it with pocket change each night - "he said no way"!

Now I have a Tupperware container on my desk next to the trash container for students to dispose of the "loose trash". Well, last year (two semesters; Fall and Spring) netted the poor "out of touch Doc" with $ 83.45 dollars and no plugs were dug. :icon_thumleft:

Should I put up sign stating: "Will teach for change" :dontknow:

Out of touch, Doc

I miss pay phones!

Nice going Terry! I check them when i see one.

I did have a head scratcher the last time, i found 3 brand new freshly minted clad quarters in the reject tray.
Is the Mint not checking clad weight?

Well Professor, and these are the kids seeking a higher education? :what::what::what:

Wow, nice totals Terry. :notworthy: I am at a whopping 21 cents for the year. I only get around to checking them about 20 times a year though.

YES! I am getting a lot of new quarters as well - Strange! :skullflag:

I saw one the other day....been a long time since I have seen one.

I took this pic at a hotel a few years ago. A single pay phone and the house phone is all that was left ...i thought it was the last pay phone on earth. Checked the change dispenser with no luck.

They are going the way of the dinasours, extinct.
Some of the youth today have no idea what a pay phone is....probanly think its an ATM.

I hear ya T.S.
Between the CS and Vending Machines & Parking lot finds ,I'm Guessing $20-$30 Dollars Found this Year + many Foreign (like U). Last Friday got a Nice 1963 Dime Under the Machine (looked under saw the rim , & thought Score!). also there was a Clad Quarter beside the Machine & out in the Lobby there is a "Claw" machine that had 25 Penny's in the reject Slot (suppose some kid thought the machine took cents???.

So far I got about 10 silver Dimes this year ( No Merc's Tho) ?? No Quarters oh Halves either) but 2 War nickles & Several Steel Cents.

Easier than digging them around Here. & I really only get out 3-4 day's a Week.
Hope the streak Continues.

2016 End of year Coinstar total: $171.57 :occasion14:

Still haven't had a Coinstar find, Terry.........I check whenever I'm near one.........
So, a couple days ago, I stop at my bank that is in a supermarket. I finish my transaction and head down to the Coinstar.........there's a fella using it and his young son is kneeling down on the floor waiting for the reject coins to fall into the tray...........sigh.............

My advantage is the number of machines I have around me Chuck! I have also learned general times that I have better luck when shopping, or it's just pure luck and the 15-machines near me! I also cleaned up on foreign coinage! Pounds!
