Detector(s) used
Minelab Explorer SE w/SunRay X-1, X-5 and X-8 / Whites XLT / Whites GM3
I recently purchase a new Minelab Explorer SE, and have been running it through the ringer so I can learn what this thing is telling me. I've had it out for a total of 3 days in this 'hunted out' park. I want to stay in this park, so I understand the conditions, signals while changing settings but not changing soil conditions. This way I can minimize certain variables during this learning phase.

The first two days were brutal. Digging pulltab after pulltab, but today I made a breakthrough and found 3 keepers. I think my adjustments were really getting me somewhere!

SWEET!!! I'm sure that was worth all the alluminum!!

Good Job! You are doing it right by learning a new machine the right way. Does the SE do a pretty good job differentiate using Conductivity? Can it really tell the difference between pull tabs and gold?

Thanks guys! I don't have enough experience to make any claims on that pulltab vs gold. I think the SE has some great tones where you can listen based of conductivity or your can listen based off of how non-ferrous the target is. I tried the ferrous mode today, but it was throwing me off. I've been using conductive for the last few days.. and I think I'm going to stick with that now.

You must be doing something right. Very nice finds. Hang in there, you are doing great!

Thanks. I've been swingin' a White's XLT for years, so this transition to SE is a weird one.. but fun. It's like learning how to detect all over again... so I want to get past this ASAP... and keep the good stuff coming in.
