Got out after work and hit a field that I'd previously found an 1858 penny in.Didn't do well in the field so I checked the creek beside it .After a short search I came up with a nice grooved hammer. It's the first grooved tool I have ever found. Feeling elated I gave the field another try and came up with a nice corner notch. Good day for me to bring home two sweet pieces. In situ photos and field photos below.

Wow! That's some cool stuff. I love stone tools. When I find them whole that makes me feel that much better. I'm amazed you found that point in all that silt. We have 2 inches of silt in most areas around the river here, and finding points in those fields is next to impossible. Count yourself lucky. Great finds all the same.

Sweeeeet! That's what I'm talkin' bout! That's also why I prefer indian artifacts to metal detecting. Boom.

thanks for taking the time for the insitu picks! they are most enjoyable...hey what was that down to the left of the hammer? looks like somthin pointy and triangular.

I see it too, I'm pretty sure it's shale or slate. It might be flint. I don't think I overlooked anything, but you never know I've walked right on by points before! thanks, Unitas
