All Treasure Hunting
Hi, everyone. My name is Frank. I am an American from upstate, New York currently living and working abroad in Kazan, Russia. Detecting has been something I have thought about for years now and I'm about to pull the trigger and buy my first kit on a NOX 800 bundle.

I've always been passionate about history (studied it for 6 years in university and teach it for a living) and nature so what a way to combine both things.

Looking for some buddies to hunt with in either upstate NY, (near Buffalo) in the summers or Christmas break, Russia during the Autumn/Spring, or on vacations.

Will be in Israel in May and really want to link up with someone there, as well.

All the best,

FC

PS: You better check the laws in Russia,.......
Last I heard all metal detecting was banned.

They sell them here. You can detect for raw materials but anything historic needs to be left alone or delivered to authorities. And you can't hunt on historic sites.

Welcome Frank, there are a few guys in Upstate NY on the forums, you just have to poke around. The fellow who runs one of the best sites goes by the name of Sergei...pretty sure he’s a Russian national. Just Google “Sergei metal detect”. How weird right? And be careful about saying you’re “about to pull the trigger” while in Russia...you just never know who’s peepin’...:laughing7:

Thanks everyone. I got big plans for this year. The only thing that can stop me short of a bullet are the police and a broken detector.

I will be hunting in Russia, Israel, and Turkey all within the next 6 months, if all goes according to plan.

I appreciate the kind words of encouragement.

I remember when the laws changed.
There was a Russian metal detector maker that started to expand export sales,
sales to other countries, because they had forecast slower sales in the domestic market.

I felt bad for you guys.
I saw some fantastic finds coming out of Russia.
