so i got a new gold mining buggy. its a honda pioneer 500.
took it out for its first trip today. very impressed with its handling and it did well going up steep mining roads.
only 50 inches wide, will get in the tight washes and up and down old trails.
gear driven, no ctv belt to snap when i need it most.

just have to build a back bed and a front rack for hauling the dry washer, vac, and minelab.
bonus points if you can name the mill in the background.

Congratulations and Big Gold!:occasion14:

thanks terry, now that you are retired, are you coming back out to az to do some more gold mining.
weather is getting nice.

Yes, I am coming out later in the season! I hope we can get together.:occasion14:

check out Harbour freight trailers, it might be cheaper to buy the small trailer they have and modify from there or use as is.

terry, let me know when you get here. i have a few spots, maybe we can get out for a hunt.

Back-of-the-boat, i have been looking all over the web for ideas. the ones that are made for it are kind of short.
i want to make use of every inch. im thinking a longer bed. i was going to weld up some 1 inch square tubing.
but thinking of the noise from my tools bouncing and rattling around in the back, wood might be better.
im thinking 48x40 3/4 marine grade plywood base and 2x8 sides.
finish up with some roll on bed liner.

took two days, but i built a bed that should outlast me.
dimensions are 48 wide x 39 long. used 1 inch pipe insulation on the rack to keep vibration down.
i might do some stencil work on it. pick and shovel or something.
will take it on a cow elk hunt this weekend.
next weekend after that, back to mining.
the name of the mill is Anderson Mill in the San Domingo wash.
