All Treasure Hunting
Hello everyone,

I am very interested in metal detection, and seeking out that which has been lost, forgotten or left behind. I have been seeking out things like this since I was a boy, but have never given it much thought until now. I am currently saving up for my first Metal Detector, hopefully a Minelab CTX 3030. I don't like to buy things again and again, so my theory is "you get what you pay for". Hopefully, it will be the detector that will last me many years to come. For now, I am learning the culture, the rules, and the do's and don'ts. Happy hunting, everyone!

Cheers ~

Is metal detecting on beaches allowed in California? My son is stationed at NASNI, in San Diego, and I'd like to carry my machine next time we visit there.

Welcome to the forum RTJ!
May I suggest an inexpensive detector to test drive first to see if it's something you would like to stay with!
The CTX is an awesome detector and one to look forward to owning and using but a few hundred dollars will get you an awesome detector to learn the skills and it does take learning!
I'd start off with the Teknetics Eurotek Pro as it has everything one needs and IMHO you won't outgrow it!
Best of luck!
