Hey guys fresh out of the woods from my old foundation. Only my 4th time out and these are my first musket balls. I don't have a micrometer so I'm sure i.d. Would be difficult. Two are pretty white but one seems to be different composition. No idea what the other two items are. I found the round disc about 5 minutes before I had to leave. It was actually hidden between two stones in the foundation . I didn't even know if it wS a coin when I got it out and didn't think I would ever be able to see any detail. But as I started to get some of the crud off I can see what I believe is a mans head and I can make out the letter GIVS. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot for helping the new kid :-)

Nice going on the copper, the item on the right looks like a whizzer.

Hey PepperJ what's a whizzer?

Hello Ahab8,
Truly some nice finds there and congratulations on taking the time to check the wall! The bead is interesting, does it look very different when it is wet vs how it looks when dry? If so putting up a picture of the wet condition would be appreciated. Out of curiosity, what detector were you using?

Yes a whizzer! One runs a string through both holes and knots the ends together. While holding both end s of the loop the tension is lowered and then increased and repeated over and over this causes the circular object to spin and creates a sort of whizzing noist (whatever that is). Of course it could also be the loom weight as well as a whizzer.

These were the 3 things I was unsure about. Thanks for the ideas of the loom weight and whizzer guys.

I was using a T2 SE

I would say you are off to a good start. The other pieces look like a portion to a shoe buckle and a home-made hemweight.

Thanks guys, yeah I spent months researching sites before my great girlfriend bought me a T2 SE. This is the first site I chose and I'm really happy with my finds so far. Never expected to find items this old this quick. Research is paying off. Thanks again

Whizzer or a homemade hem weight? I guess there will be a split on which it could be and nobody will be a 100% sure except the maker and they're not talking.

Whizzer's were made with the holes closer to the edge of the disc, thinner material like an old coin, I'd say this would fall into the thinner material as well as the placement of the holes.

Hem weights have the holes seemed to be placed closer to the center, and seemed to be thicker. Lot's had just a bar across the center hole for attaching the weight.

What's the other side look like or is it the same?

It's the same

Thanks MUD it's a miracle that I found the coin. It was sandwiched between two of the foundation stones
I've read a few times about a penny of the year the home was built being incorporated into the home in multiple ways. Sometimes nailed above the door, other times in foundations and walkways.

That little disc...could it be a bale seal? Any writing on it?
