hmmmm,,, i guess i need a better spot....

Those are some cool bottles....The little Massage cream bottle is really neat....but by the looks of the dump so far it looks like alot of ladies stuff.....keep digging.
I will dig bottle dumps all day....the better stuff is usually at the bottom of the hill...I start at the bottom and pull the stuff down and keep working my way up the hill....
Way To Go....I usually take along a long probe(like a 18 inch screwdriver) so that I can hear that distintive "ding" of glass when I am looking for the glass....

lol.......ok, that makes a lot more sense than how i was doin it....let gravity do the work instead,,,, 3 hours and i was hurt..... thank you for the hints,,

Nice bunch of bottles and stuff.Digging them is always easier during or right after a good rain.I have brought my own water before to help with the excavating too.Leather gloves will help reduce blood loss also. :) If your not working a dump on a hill then the older stuff will be the deeper stuff of course.Using a probe is a good idea as suggested by gypsy. Here's an interesting little article about privy digging that you might like to read, just for fun.http://my.net-link.net/~prostock/bottle_digging_part_1.html Have fun! One more thing, bring some newspaper to wrap the bottles in and a 5 gal.bucket or something to carry the bottles out.

great reading,, thanks,,, i got some medicine and a few other types today,, i'll put pics up soon..... so, i hit clay at a foot and stopped,, should i keep going ?? i'll make a rod over the weekend,,, thanks for the help you two,, i'm going to scope out some older homes this weekend..... ;D ;D

I learned this trick from Tinpan....take one of those fiberglass poles that go on the back of kids bikes ...the ones that attach flags....This makes an excellent probe because it will make a really odd ting when you hit a bottle....works great for detecting bottles in mud or swampy areas also.....just cut to the size you need ....
