I moved into my first house in Cicero recently. It was built in the 1950s so there should be some good finds to be had.
Lots of penny signals, most seem to be memorials :(
Still, got a 1944 merc last night, so that is a good start.
Yes I gouged it :( I have not been metal detecting in some time so I am out of practice.

Nice job. How did you take those photos? A scanner?

Nope, used my phone for those. Used to use Sony T series cameras with magnifying glass mode http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/photography-images/64111-magnifying-glass-mode.html

These days I don't even have it charged lol.

Take your phone or any camera and a single, small convex lens like out of a loupe.
Place the lens in front and with a little focusing and a steady hand you can take a decent macro shot.
I then trim the area around the coin and crop the image in GIMP, a free image editor like photoshop.

Nice silver find! :occasion14:

I'm in Syracuse, NY and I also have a Prius. My house was built in 1920 and I also found a Mercury dime in it. That was the only silver coin I found. I did find a sterling silver Lieutenants Bar and a WWII Half-track Commanders pin which was pretty cool. I'll bet you were out hunting this past weekend!

Yep, first time in a almost a year. I don't think my new houses yard has been hunted before. I am hopeful the neighborhood is the same.

Congrats on the house - the merc is a bonus.

Nice job on the Merc. Its nice to be able to walk out your own door and find some nice coins.
