Hello everyone!
I decided to introduce myself to everyone here. I have been lurking the forums for a few weeks now. Also just a note, I am writing this from my phone at work, so I do apologize for any errors.
I am new to the hobby, however I have always been interested in it. I just got my bounty hunter 3300 yesterday. I know that bounty hunters get a lot of bad reviews, however I decided on it do low price and ease of use. I plan on getting an Excalibur 2 after I learn the basics.
I used it a bit yesterday and found a handful of pull tabs, bottle caps, cans etc. I did come away with a broken steel pendent, which was neat. I was also excited to find my first coin, a 1978 Canadian quarter. I must Admit, it was a blast! I also came away with some valuable lessons../
Gloves are a must on hard soils. Those blisters still hurt!
Ground balance helps a lot when I am getting entirely to many iron signls rating at 1. However, discrimination is good if it is just signals from trash.
Pinpoint mode helps ALOT! My first 6 to 7 digs I didn't use it.
The LCD screen tells the depth of the object, at least approximately. Boy did this make a giant difference when I started paying attention to it.
A trip to lowes before my next hunt is also a must. A trowel is great, but with out a multipurpose knife/ transplanter, hard soil is... Hard.
I gotta get back to work, but thanks for reading! If anyone around the prattville area would like to get together for a hunt let me know!
